AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test which offers Indian citizens an opportunity to serve as a Group-A gazetted officer in the Indian Air force. Indian Airforce recruits candidates by organizing an entrance examination called AFCAT. The candidate who passes the entrance examination will go through a medical test followed by an interview session. After clearing every step of recruitment, the selected candidates will become a Group-A gazetted officer in the Indian Airforce as a Flying officer or Technical staff. Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for AFCAT is as follows-
- The candidate must be a citizen of India
Flying Branch
- The candidate must have completed graduation from a recognized university in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks and the candidate needs to choose physics and mathematics at class 12th level
- The age criteria are between 20 to 24 years of age
Ground Duty (Technical)
- The candidate must have completed graduation in engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or the candidate must have passed the examination of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India)
- The age criteria are between 20 to 26years of age
Ground Duty (Non-Technical)
- The candidate must have completed graduation from a recognized university in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks and the candidate needs to choose physics and mathematics at class 12th level or, the candidate must clear section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent
- The age criteria are between 20 to 26years of age

AFCAT 2023 Application Form
The application process for AFCAT can be filled online and the candidate can follow the step by step process is as follows-
- Visit the official website of AFCAT and click on the login button
- Now, a login page will appear where you have to click on the not yet register button
- A short form will appear where you have to enter your email ID and a system-generated password (must remember login ID and password)
- Now, login to your account using your login credentials and select the type of entry-AFCAT or NCC Special entry for Flying Branch
- Now, the agreement and instruction page will appear where you have to agree to the terms after reading them
- Click on the application form and start filling it with details like name, address, education qualification, etc.
- After filling in the details, you have to upload the documents mentioned below followed by selecting the examination city
- Now, the candidate must pay the application fee to confirm his/her application form
- Make sure to take the printout of the application form and payment receipt for future use

AFCAT 2023 Selection Procedure (SSB Interview)
The candidates who have passed the AFCAT entrance examination are called for the SSB Interview session which is a 5-day recruitment program organized in the Indian Military Academy. Here, the candidate will be interviewed and tested both mentally and physically before the final selection. The candidate also needs to provide the documents both in xerox (two copies attested) and original for verification.
Documents Required for SSB Interview
The following are the documents required by the candidates to bring during the SSB interview-
- AFCAT 2022 Admit Card
- Original Matriculation/ Secondary School Certificate and Mark sheets issued by CBSE/ ICSE/ State Board
- Original Marks Sheet & Certificate of 10+2 (issued by the relevant Board).
- Original/ Provisional Graduation Degree/ Post Graduation Degree Certificates and Mark Sheet of each year/ semester issued by University
- A provisional certificate issued by the University
- In case of final year/ semester students, a Certificate from the College Principal with proper stamp and seal of the Institution
- Original NCC Certificate (if applicable).
- NOC from employers for candidates working in Central/ State Govt. or Public Sector Undertakings.
- Original valid Commercial Pilots’ License, issued by DGCA, if applicable.
- Inbound Railway Ticket/ Bus Tickets. (For refund of Travelling Allowance)
