DASA stands for Direct Admission for Students Abroad which is a scheme launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to facilitate foreign students, NRIs, PIO Cardholder, Indian Origin national, etc. for admission into premium institutes in India for Undergraduate and Post Graduate programs. Eligibility Criteria for DASA Scheme
The following are the eligibility criteria for DASA Scheme-
- For Undergraduate course, only Science stream class 11th and 12th with Physics and mathematics as compulsory subject are eligible with other subjects as biology, chemistry, bio-technology, or computer science
- The candidate is required to have a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying examination aggregated
- From 2021 onwards, the candidates must participate in the JEE Mains examination and based on the rank the candidates will be provided with the admission

Type of scheme
DASA scheme comes with different categories of schemes depending on the country from where the application has been registered. The following are the category of the DASA scheme-
CIWG Category
CIWG stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. As the name suggests, here all the children whose parents are from Gulf countries can apply and study. The following are the list of CIWG countries-

- Iran
- Kuwait
- Oman
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- United Arab Emirates
Candidates applying under the CIWG categories have seat reserved under this scheme and also, the fee will far lesser in comparison to the category candidates.
DASA Non-SAARC Category
The candidates who do not belong to the CIWG or SAARC category will be automatically treated as the Non-SAARC category. The admission process is similar in this case as well, the only difference being the fee structure.
DASA SAARC Category
SAARC stands for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) which is a list of countries that have agreed to corporate to encourage regional development. One of the aspects is educational development. Nationals of these countries as well as Indian working here can take admission into the Premium Universities in India by DASA scheme. DASA Scheme 2023 Application Form
The following are the application form for DASA Scheme-
- Visit the official website of DASA and create an account in the website
- Now, login to the website using your login credential
- After logging in, navigate to the DASA application form link and a form will appear
- Fill the form with relevant details like name, current living country, JEE Mains application number, etc.
- After filling the details, you’ll have to upload the documents mentioned below followed by making payment of the application fee
- After making the payment, make sure to take the printout of the application fee and payment receipt for future use
Documents Required for DASA Scheme
The following are the documents required for DASA Scheme-
- Applicant’s Passport (Nationals of Nepal who does not have a passport, the copy of Authenticated Citizenship Card has to be submitted*)
- Proof of Date of Birth (Secondary Education Board / University Certificate [Class X or equivalent] or any certificate issued by the Government authorities)
- Mark Sheet of 10th, 11th and 12th (or) Equivalent examination(s)
- Certificate from School authorities (in the format given in Appendix-II on the letterhead of the school) as proof of completion of 11th and 12th Standard or equivalent
- Proof of last 2 years of education in the foreign country in case of NRI (School leaving certificate/Mark sheets/Study Certificate as in appendix IV)
- Details and proof of fee payment in case of payment by SWIFT transfer
DASA Application Fee
The application fee for DASA candidates is USD $300/- which can be paid online using a credit/debit card, UPI, Net Banking, etc.
DASA Scheme Admission Process
The admission through DASA will be based on the merit list prepared by evaluating the applicant’s performance in the JEE Mains examination. Based on the marks obtained in the mains examination, the candidates will be offered colleges. The college releases a cut-off ranking or marks and you’ll have to fall in that ranking category to take admission into the college.
After confirming the cut-off marks, you’ll have to apply for that college counseling session and there you can initiate your college admission process by submitting your documents for verification.
